The Project
Friends for Sight mobile vision clinics go directly to students where they are, in schools. Our goal is to eliminate barriers to eye care for Utah’s underserved communities, ensuring every child has the vision health needed to thrive in school and adulthood. Untreated eye conditions in children can result in academic setbacks, low self-esteem, and social isolation. Without intervention, these conditions can lead to lifelong vision impairments, limiting Utahns’ ability to fully participate in and contribute to their communities.
We partner with schools districts and volunteer Optometrists, set up our mobile vision exam equipment, and help students pick our their favorite eye glasses. Most kids we see have never been to an eye doctor and gone years without the ability to see clearly. We love when they put on their new glasses and can see for the first time. Their joy and excitement is beautiful thing to witness!
The Impact
We will provide nearly 2,000 students with eye exams and glasses this year and are working to expand to thousands more in the years to come.
